ChatGPT created the title for this blog post, haha.
Before I move on to Estonia, I wanted to share some highlights from the several museums we visited during the week in Stockholm. There’s the long-favorite Vasa Museum, with its well-preserved 1600s-era warship; the popular ABBA Museum (yes, it’s what you think); the modem art Photographic Museum; and the Royal Armory, with its many coats of armor, bullet-holed and bloodstained clothing items, weaponry, and the hall of royal carriages. Educational yet fun all around!

On Christmas Day itself, before Sofia arrived from Prague, we visited Skansen, an open-air museum where various period buildings are sprinkled over the large hilltop acreage, and where examples of regional animals are housed, such as moose, bears, Arctic foxes, lynxes, seals, and many more. It was a stunning setting, especially with the full covering of snow. Some of the farm houses and stores contained example Christmas dinner setups from different decades in the 1800s and early 1900s with representative decorations, meals, and docents dressed in associated period costumes.

I think the Vasa Museum and ABBA Museum are reasons alone to visit Stockholm… not to mention a beautiful, clean, friendly city that’s always delightful. It was great being back there and spending time with our family and friends in this winter wonderland. You portray and summarize it all very well, Scott!
Thanks, agreed! Not to mention the best pastries in the world! Also, it’s snowing heavily again as I write, and it’s so charming.
