I’m back in Prague! It’s hard to believe that I was gone for over seven weeks. A lot has happened since I said goodbye to Colleen when she left Prague to fly back to NC!
I got to meet Sofia on Friday evening for dinner! It was great to catch up with her again, and we planned for at least a couple more meetups during my stay in town.
Returning to Czechia from Portugal is a balm for my soul. I didn’t anticipate just how joyous and grateful I would feel to be back. It really does feel so comfortably familiar now, making it like a home away from home.
While in Lisbon, I often took photos because it just seemed like that was what one should do there, but now back in Prague I’m taking photo after photo, not putting my phone back into my pocket, even though I’ve already captured photos of these same places many times before! I continue to be struck by the beauty, and each time I see and appreciate some new aspect.
Prague offers an abundance of English-speaking group activities, many more than any other city I visited on this trip, and many more now than last year when Covid was still causing lots of restrictions and fear. On Friday evening I went to an InterNations get-together where I hung out with a retired couple from the US who moved to Prague five years ago, along with a Dutch guy who was just visiting for the weekend. Then on Saturday morning I joined a Meetup running group for an hour jog. There are two or three long day hikes scheduled through Meetup for each of Saturday and Sunday, one of which I may join. There are pub events, comedy, music, sports, and many more. Amazing.

Today’s dad joke: I bought a paperback about a Nazi leader’s assassination in Prague and attempted to poise it on the tip of my index finger. Why?
I was trying to balance the Czech book!
Today’s limerick:
Prague is a city of comfort for me
There are so many things to do and see
Plus Sofia lives here
For many a fun year
Which makes me as happy as I can be.
Today’s travel quote:
Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by.
Robert Frost

Sweet post, Scott. It’s nice to see you so filled with joy!
