Build it and they will come

Bratislava is building like crazy, and as you can see in the photos below, there are already many tall buildings, with more on the way!

Communism on the left, capitalism on the right

City photos:

Aptly-named Blue Church
10 km of greenways along the river in downtown
Cool architecture overlooking the Danube
Swanky hillside neighborhood with great views
Main square, with little tour trolley
Presidential Palace
My current favorite Slovak brewery

Today’s guest dad joke: I normally write my own, but I see I’m not the only game in this town! (From a local restaurant)

Today’s travel quote:

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote: To travel is to live.

  1. Hah! Great visual pun there! What a dynamic city; I assume joining the EU spurred on a lot of the investment? As you pointed out in an earlier post, it seems like it’s well-positioned geographically, etc. Seems to have more of a working/business vibe though like a Gothenburg or a Charlotte.

    1. Yeah, definitely business-oriented. I presume that the EU contributed a lot, at least in the early days of the country’s inclusion in the union.
