Konspira

There’s a fantastic Polish restaurant in old town Wrocław that strongly represents its freedom and peace movement connection with a thick menu highlighting historic information and backgrounds of the various traditional Polish dishes on offer. They’ve also added some recent signage protesting Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Self-explanatory
This sign suggests Nuremberg for Putin (like the post-WWII trials for Nazis)
Communist humor
I asked the waiter about getting perogies and then something else, but he said that everything else was too filling to be able to eat perogies also. He was right! This dish is an homage to Hungarian connections with Poland. The beer is non-alcoholic because I had a work call that evening – the best non-alcoholic IPA I’ve ever had. (I’m learning that Slavic languages have many similarities, so my limited Czech knowledge sometimes helps – “bez” means “without” in at least Czech, Polish, and Russian that I know of now.)
Is Poland making the best of a bad situation, or being punished worse than the others?

Bonus side note: So far I have managed to not take out any Polish cash (złoty (PLN)), as everywhere I’ve been has accepted credit cards. Even the churches accept donations via credit cards!

Today’s dad joke: How do you reference any given location in Wrocław?

By its “Pole position”

  1. So much hilarity in here; love your country-specific dadjokes too. Speaking of… your dinner didn’t appear to risk leaving you very _Hungary_.

    1. Oh man, you just stole one of my jokes for next week when I arrive in Budapest! Ha ha.

      1. Hah! Well, luckily I’m slow enough on getting caught up on the blog that few folks will likely see this comment so you’re probably safe 😀
