Wrocław’s Gnomes

There are several hundred little brass gnomes placed in locations all over Wrocław. They’re fun to find, and it’s easy to come across several, or even dozens, while walking through the old town. Each is different and has its own theme.

Here’s some background on the gnomes (aka dwarves), if you’re interested: https://the-travelling-twins.com/wroclaw-gnomes/

Below are some example photos of a few of the gnomes I have run across:

Side note: I forgot to mention this last week, but Colleen and I had a long dinner one night in Prague with a couple from Asheville. The female friend’s son just started at AAU (Sofia’s school). The male friend’s son was Sofia’s boyfriend at the end of her time in high school, and so this couple knows Sofia well. Colleen and I have known the male friend for over a dozen years, but we got to know his partner only this year. It was fun and interesting catching up with them, as they were taking six weeks traveling around Eastern Europe, with much of their time spent in Prague. They headed out on Wednesday to visit Istanbul for a week before returning to Asheville.

Today’s dad joke: What’s a really skinny Wrocław native called?

A beanpole!

Today’s travel quote:

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.

  1. That’s really cool. Every city needs a hook like this. I wonder if this is why Travelocity chose the gnome as its mascot.

    1. You’re right, every city could use a novelty like this. There’s almost always someone taking a photo of each gnome I encounter.
